Wells, George Pal, wonderful UFO art! Date Sold 10/11/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Spanish Movie Herald (measures 3 3/4" x 9" [10 x 23 cm]; 2pg) (Learn More) H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds, the classic 1953 Byron Haskin science fiction (sci-fi) Martian extraterrestrial alien invasion action thriller ("From the ends of the universe... they are reaching for YOU!"; produced by George Pal; loosely based on the classic novel by H.G. Wells; about seemingly unstoppable aliens invading the Earth) starring Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, Les Tremayne, Robert Cornthwaite, Lewis Martin, and Ann Codee NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this Spanish herald has wonderful die-cut art of an alien spaceship (trimmed to the edges of the ship). It has a small "periscope-like" device at the top, which would certainly easily snap off, so it is great to find this herald with that area intact! Also note that when Spanish heralds have printing on the back, we picture both sides, but when they are blank on the back, we only picture the front. Please note that Spanish heralds, like U.S. heralds, were printed in very large quantities, and then sent to individual theaters in Spain, and they would sometimes have the backs of them overprinted with their theater name and specific play dates. But because a movie might play in Spain for a period of a year or two (traveling from theater to theater), there is no guarantee that the date overprinted on the back of the herald is the same as the date that the herald was first printed (and the date that the movie first played in Spain). Therefore, we don't list the date overprinted on the back of a herald as the date of the herald unless we know that was when the movie first played in Spain. If we believe the herald was printed earlier, then we use that date. If it is important to you that the date on the herald is the date the movie first opened, then please look at our image of the back of this herald to see if there is a different date printed on it. Condition: good to very good. There are a few faint stains in the top edge. There are creases in the left and right corners. The top "periscope-like" area was bent back at one time, and someone put a tiny piece of tape on the back of that area to reinforce it (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
