An Original Vintage Autographed Deluxe 5" x 7" [13 x 18 cm] Fan Photo (Learn More) Maureen O'Hara was an Irish actress from the 1930s to the 2000s. Her first major success was in 1939's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and she was a major star of the 1940s (known for her long association with John Ford and John Wayne), and she aged wonderfully, being able to play the virginal sister in The Quiet Man in 1952! In 1948 she opened a store in Los Angeles called "Maureen O'Hara Seasonal Clothes", where she used her celebrity to help her gain sales, but she continued acting into the 1960s, and retired in 1971. She was lured out of retirement for a wonderful performance in Only the Lonely in 1991, but she then returned to her retirement. Some of her other movies include: How Green Was My Valley, Rio Grande, Miracle on 34th Street, Parent Trap, and Jamaica Inn. She passed away in 2015 at the age of 95. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Maureen O'Hara! Also note that this is a deluxe fan photo printed on double weight paper stock. Note that this item was consigned to us from the family of Ken Jones, who was an author of books about movies (including books about character actors and western stars). In the course of researching his books, he became friends with many Hollywood actors, and he would ask them to autograph stills for him (originals if he had them, or repros if he did not), and they obliged, usually returning the stills to him with a personalized inscription "To Ken". In the case of this still, he likely purchased it autographed, because it is not autographed to him. The family does not have a letter of authenticity for this signed item, but we feel certain it is authentic, given Mr. Jones' personal relationship with the star. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
