An Undated (probably 1946 or 1947; see below) Re-Release Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Shadow, the 1940 James W. Horne crime mystery serial ("Wrapped in mystery! Loaded with thrills!"; "A Columbia chapter play of 15 thrilling episodes"; "Based on the stories published by 'The Shadow' magazine") starring Victor Jory (in the title role as Lamont Cranston, aka The Shadow), Veda Ann Borg, Roger Moore, Robert Fiske, and John Paul Jones

Important Added Info: Note the we have previously auctioned three 1940s re-release lobby cards from this serial (and NO first release cards), and only one example of this re-release title card!

Note that an advanced collector tells us that this card is likely from either 1946 or 1947, and that Columbia Pictures kept this movie in first release all the way from 1940 until that time, so technically it is not a "re-release", but because of the large gap in time, we are calling this that, so that no one is misled. Apparently, Columbia ran out of first release cards somewhere around 1945 and then printed new cards without dates in the bottom border, not only for this serial, but also for some other serials that they also kept in continuous release (surely as part of Saturday matinee showings). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: fair to good. The card has pinholes, smudges, and creases around the edges, and some smudges and faint stains scattered in the image. Someone put pieces of conservation tape on the back of pinholes, but performed no other restoration.
