An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Bluebeard's Eighth Wife, the 1923 Sam Wood silent romantic multiple marriage melodrama ("Screen Version by Sada Cowan"; "From Charlton Andrews' Adaptation of Alfred Savoir's Play"; about an American millionaire who has been married seven times, and, while traveling to Paris, he meets a beautiful aristocratic but poor beauty, and he marries her on the spur of the moment, but when she finds out about all his previous wives, she tries to drive him away because she thinks he will leave anyway, but when he finally does give up hope, she realizes he DID love her and tries to keep him!) starring Gloria Swanson (in the title role as Mona deBriac), Huntley Gordon, Charles Greene, Lianne Salvor, and Paul Weigel. Note that this movie was loosely remade in 1938 by Ernst Lubitsch with Gary Cooper and Claudette Colbert in the lead roles! Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this lobby card, and that was in a complete set 33 years ago! Note that the vast majority of collectors would assume that this is a title card, but it is not! In the mid to late 1920s, Paramount made many sets of lobby cards where all of the scene cards LOOK like title cards, but there actually isn't a title card at all (around this time, Paramount abandoned title cards altogether for the most part for the next forty-odd years, instead often using a posed portrait of the stars in place of a title card). This scene card is from one of those sets where the scene cards are commonly mistaken for title cards. Please do not bid on it thinking it is a title card, as it is a scene card, and there is no title card, because we have seen the entire set and there is no title card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. The card had creases, tiny tears, and a few pinholes around the edges and someone performed slight restoration to the borders (only blank white areas were affected). Learn More about condition grades
