Date Sold 8/4/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Should Men Walk Home?, the 1927 Leo McCarey silent romantic crime comedy short (produced by Hal Roach; this was one of Mabel Normand's last movies for Hal Roach, and one of the most ambitious ones, likely because it was directed by Leo McCarey, who would go on to much bigger and better things; it bears a striking similarity to 1932's "Trouble in Paradise", because Normand is a hitchhiking pickpocket who gets picked up by jewel thief Creighton Hale, and once they realize they are both in the same profession, they decide to join forces and crash a swanky party and hopefully steal jewels there!) starring Mabel Normand, Creighton Hale, Eugene Pallette, Oliver Hardy, and William A. Boardway. Note that Oliver Hardy has one of his last solo roles before joining with Stan Laurel in that most memorable team, and he has a great comic bit where he is a drunk at the party trying to get another drink, but fate doesn't let him get it! Also note that over the years there have been several "finds" of comedy shorts from Hal Roach of Mack Sennett, but to the best of our knowledge, THIS title was not included in any of them, and that is borne out by the fact that we have only once ever auctioned a single one-sheet and no other movie paper from this title! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this comedy short is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this one-sheet (which is the one referenced in the description above)! What IS linenbacking?
