eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1a686 FORBIDDEN TRAIL pressbook '32 Buck Jones in a battle of lead & wits with LOVE as the reward! Date Sold 9/6/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12 1/4" x 18" [31 x 46 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Forbidden Trail, the 1932 Lambert Hillyer cowboy western ("A battle of lead and wits - with LOVE as the spoils of Victory!"; "Reckless romance on a danger-paved trail!"; "Fighting the Battle of his Life!"; "Riding for Life - for Honor - and for LOVE!"; "Ride thrill-bent with Buck through a reckless romance on a danger-paved trail!") starring Buck Jones, George Cooper, Barbara Weeks, Mary Carr, and Frank La Rue. Buck Jones also starred in the 1920 and 1941 films titled "Forbidden Trails" which means that he used whatever trail he wanted to throughout his career. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! Also note that Mary Carr became a major star in the mid 1910s around the age of 40, playing the parts of saintly mothers. She continued to make movies (switching to grandmother roles) through the mid 1930s, and then continued with mostly uncredited parts until the mid 1950s. She passed away in 1973 at the age of 99! Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. There is a small area of surface paper loss in the upper right of the back cover, with a few other minor defects on that cover. Otherwise, pressbook is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
