An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Saratoga, the 1937 Jack Conway New York romantic mismatched couple horse racing sports gambling comedy ("Original Story and Screen play by Anita Loos and Robert Hopkins"; about the daughter of an owner of a horse farm who lost it to a gambler just before he died, and the gambler offers to give her back the farm and forgive the debt, but she insists on repaying it, and even though the two hate each other at first sight, they come to fall in love!) starring Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Lionel Barrymore, Frank Morgan, Walter Pidgeon, Cliff Edwards, Una Merkel, Hattie McDaniel, and Margaret Hamilton (in an uncredited role). This was Jean Harlow's final movie (she died from kidney failure during the filming, and her last few scenes had to be completed by a stunt double). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the vertical fold between the top and bottom crossfolds, with minor wear on the other foldlines. It had pinholes around the edges, with paper loss in the top one-third of the right blank border. It had some grease pencil writing on the back of the left blank border to the left of Harlow's image that slightly bled through to the front. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone backed the poster onto thin linen and did no restoration. While it can surely be displayed as it is, If I owned the poster, I would surely have it removed from the thin linen and properly re-backed, because afterward, it would look fantastic, with little paint restoration anywhere in the image.
