An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Cowboy, the 1958 Delmer Daves cattle drive cowboy western ("A real Western!"; "It's Really the best because it's Really the West!"; "The Epic of the Real American Cowboy"; "Cowboy has no corn, no cliches Cowboy has excitement and bigness Cowboy is really the best because it's Really the West!"; "Authentic Greatness!"; "Based upon a novel by Frank Harris"; about a tenderfoot who is tricked into investing in a cattle drive, and he goes along and learns much about life along the way) starring Glenn Ford, Jack Lemmon (as Frank Harris, the author of the source novel), Anna Kashfi, Brian Donlevy, Dick York, Victor Manuel Mendoza, Richard Jaeckel, James Westerfield, and Strother Martin. Note that Frank Harris' memoir was titled My Life And Loves, and was considered pornographic at the time. Because of this, the section of the book about this cattle drive was also published separately since it was "tame" compared to the rest of the book. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a thicker paper backing, it shouldn't be sent rolled (if the winning bidder insists, we will roll it in a 6" tube, but we know it will likely lessen its condition, so we will only send it in a very large flat package, unless the buyer insists, and then they would be responsible for any damage). Please bear this added expense in mind before bidding on this poster. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had separation and tiny paper loss on the folds with pinholes and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking.
