An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked British Quad Movie Poster (measures approximately 30" x 40") (Learn More) Five Graves to Cairo, the 1943 Billy Wilder World War II (WWII) Egypt British-in-Africa military spy espionage romantic action thriller ("Did a Woman Start the Rout of Rommel?"; "Based on a play by Lajos Biro"; about an English undercover agent stationed in northern Africa who discovers that the Nazis have hidden stockpiles of supplies in different bases across northern Africa, and he has to figure out a way to alert the Allies while behind enemy lines, with the aid of a beautiful woman) starring Franchot Tone, Anne Baxter, Akim Tamiroff, Erich von Stroheim ("as Field Marshal Erwin Rommel", The Desert Fox), and Peter Van Eyck NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had small tears, creases, smudges, and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. There were two tiny areas of paper loss near the middle of the poster and small tears and smudges in the left of the middle foldline. There were some smudges and creases throughout the poster. The poster is well linenbacked but the person who did so pretty much just mounted the poster and left the minor defects alone. They are not very noticeable or distracting, but if they bothered the new owner of the poster, a talented restorer could touch them up without rebacking the poster. Learn More about condition grades
