The Vagabond, the 1916 Charles Chaplin silent slapstick comedy short (Charlie is The Tramp, and in this one, he is a saloon violinist who ends up in a gypsy camp, and he falls in love with a beautiful gypsy girl, and he helps her, but she misunderstands his intentions and tries to pay him for his services) starring Charlie Chaplin (Charles Chaplin), Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Leo White, and Lloyd Bacon

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY first release U.S. movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single first release U.S. movie paper item from this movie until we received this heavily trimmed window card, which was expertly restored. Obviously, one would rather have an unrestored first release item from this movie, but they are beyond rare!

Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. Prior to paperbacking, the window card's bottom 8" was trimmed off and also the right 3", and at that point, it measured 11" x 14" (likely a theater needed a lobby card sized image). This means that the entire title, Chaplin's credit, and the right side of the image were trimmed off. The part that remained had creases, small stains, and bits of surface paper loss. Overall, the window card was in poor to fair condition prior to paperbacking. A very talented restorer recreated the missing areas and did touch up to the part that remains, and the card displays pretty well, but please bear in mind the extensive restoration it has had before placing a bid on it.
