An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Black Narcissus, the 1947 Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger English religious Catholic relationship melodrama ("A story to storm your heart!"; "Drama at the top of the world... where the winds of the exotic past sweep men and women to a strange and fascinating adventure..."; "Adapted from the novel by Rumer Godden"; "Written Produced and Directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger"; about nuns setting up convent in the Himalayas) starring Deborah Kerr (billed on English posters as "[By arrangement with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer]"; billed on U.S. posters as "M.G.M. star of 'Hucksters' fame"), Sabu, David Farrar, Flora Robson, Esmond Knight, Jean Simmons, and Kathleen Byron. Note that this movie included some partially built sets that were completed through the judicious use of a matte painting, and the famous "cliff scene" was also filmed with the use of a matte painting! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had creases, scuffs, tiny tears, and fine surface paper loss along all the foldlines. It had paper loss and tape stains in the corners and pinholes around the edges. The title was written on the back of the left of the middle horizontal fold and it bled through to the front. There were scuffs scattered in the solid blue background areas. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above.
