An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Forbidden Planet, the classic 1956 Fred McLeod Wilcox science fiction (sci-fi) outer space robot monster thriller ("Amazing!"; "In Cinemascope and Color"; "Based on the story by Irving Block & Allen Adler"; very loosely adapted from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest"; about space men who journey to a distant planet, and they find that all the members of the original expedition have died, except for one man and his daughter, and they have discovered the secrets of a long lost civilization called "The Krell", which dwarfs anything humans have ever discovered, but there is a very dark side to those secrets that is soon revealed) starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Warren Stevens, Jack Kelly, Richard Anderson, Earl Holliman (as the cook, who was put in the movie for comic relief), Robby the Robot (billed as "Introducing Robby the Robot"), James Drury, and Frankie Darro (who was inside the robot suit until he was fired early in the production for showing up inebriated and almost damaging the expensive prop). Note that after Robby the Robot appeared in this movie, he had another movie role in "The Invisible Boy", and then he appeared in a slightly modified version as the robot in TV's "Lost in Space". On November 21, 2017, the original "Robby the Robot" was auctioned, and it sold for $5.375 million! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: The poster was folded by hand in the normal way. In addition, there are five extra light vertical foldlines unevenly spaced through the poster (one is down much of the right blank border. There are some creases, smudges, and tiny tears around the edges of the poster. There is a 1" tear in the middle of the right blank border with tiny paper loss in the blank white area at the end of the tear. There is a stain in the bottom of the director's credit at the bottom of the poster and there are a few very tiny areas of surface paper loss in the left of the horizontal foldline. Other than the above minor defects (which are truly barely noticeable from any distance away), the poster is in nice condition. Certainly, this poster could be paperbacked and with only minor restoration, it would look "perfect", but I personally would leave it as is, as the image area displays great, and the foldlines are truly barely noticeable. But either way, I can't imagine a collector who would not love to have this great poster displayed on their wall! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
