An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Photobusta Movie Poster (measures 18 3/4" x 26 1/2") (Learn More) Tarzan Finds a Son!, the 1939 Richard Thorpe Africa jungle action adventure fantasy thriller ("ALL NEW! The First Tarzan Picture in 3 Years!"; "Based upon the characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs") starring Johnny Weissmuller (in the title role as Tarzan), Maureen O'Sullivan (as Jane), Johnny Sheffield (billed as "John Sheffield"; as "Boy"), Ian Hunter, Henry Stephenson, Frieda Inescort, Henry Wilcoxon, Laraine Day, Morton Lowry, Gavin Muir, and Cheetah (the chimpanzee). Note that in the books, Tarzan and Jane were married, and there was nothing wrong with them having a son. But in the movies, the producers feared that their son would be considered "illegitimate", so they had him "found" in the jungle (and he was referred to as "Tarzan Jr." in some of the early advertising, but that was dropped, perhaps because it made it obvious he was really Weissmuller's son!). Also, the movie originally ended with Jane dying, because Maureen O'Sullivan didn't want to make anymore Tarzan movies. But fans protested mightily, and the ending was quickly changed so that she survived, and Maureen O'Sullivan was convinced to appear in two more Tarzan movies! Important Added Info: Note that this Italian photobusta measures 18 3/4" x 26 1/2" and is folded. Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. slightly diagonal creases along the horizontal foldline from the poster being folded somewhat off-center as well as creases and scuffing along the foldline and to a lesser extent, throughout the poster; four tack holes in the center as well as a slightly enlarged tack hole in each corner and a few 3/8" and smaller tears around the edges of the poster Learn More about condition grades
