If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that our consignor purchased this uncut printer's test poster (often referred to as a "printer's proof") in with a group of late 1970s and early 1980s printer's test one-sheets from movies from those dates. But this poster (and eight other printer's test posters were are currently auctioning in eight separate auctions) are NOT one-sheets, but posters of varying sizes ranging from 25" x 28" to 25" x 38", and neither our consignor nor us know what they were created for! They could have been test runs for some kind of commercial posters, but these images were not used on any set of commercial posters we know of, and they look like they were printed at roughly the same time, so perhaps they were tests for some project that never materialized, and these test posters are all that remains of that project! Please do not bid on any of these nine very rare printer's test posters unless you can accept the uncertainties as to why they were created. What are printer's test posters? Before a poster was printed in large quantities, the printer would print a limited number of posters as "test" posters. Because they needed to be shown to people at the studio, people in the art department, the stars, etc, they would print a number of test posters and distribute them to these people. Some of them would be fully trimmed, but often they would leave the color chart on the left edge of many of the posters. Once these printer's test posters were shown to the various people in a position to "OK" them, the printer would print the full print run of the posters. If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The test print (see above) has a few creases around the edges and a few light and fine creases but otherwise it is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
