Auction History Result b365 THERE'S ALWAYS A WOMAN 3 movie lobby cards '38 Blondell, Douglas Date Sold 5/3/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 3 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (measure 11" x 14") (Learn More) There's Always a Woman, the 1938 Alexander Hall romantic murder mystery crime comedy ("There's never a dull moment!"; "A new laugh hit from the studio that gave you 'The Awful Truth'!"; "From the popular American Magazine story by Wilson Collison"; Blondell and Douglas are husband and wife private detectives, and they get involved in solving a murder) starring Joan Blondell ("Radiant as ever... in an exciting romance!"), Melvyn Douglas, Mary Astor, Frances Drake, Jerome Cowan, and Rita Hayworth (in a small role that became much smaller when the film was cut down at the last minute, and she was therefore uncredited!). Note that this movie was intended to be a Columbia Studios version of MGM's highly successful series that started with "The Thin Man". But this movie had only modest success, and there was a single sequel, "There's That Woman Again" the following year, with Virginia Bruce taking over Blondell's role, and then the idea was dropped.
