An Original Vintage Theatrical International Twenty-Four-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 9' x 20') (Learn More) Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the 1979 Robert Wise futuristic science fiction (sci-fi) outer space adventure thriller ("The Human Adventure Is Just Beginning."; "There Is No Comparison."; "The Motion Picture"; "Story by Alan Dean Foster"; "Screenplay by Harold Livingston") starring William Shatner (as Captain James T. Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (as Mr. Spock), DeForest Kelley (as Dr. "Bones" McCoy), James Doohan (as Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott), George Takei (as Lieutenant Commander Hikaru Sulu), Walter Koenig (as Chekov), Nichelle Nichols (as Lieutenant Commander Uhura), Majel Barrett, Persis Khambatta (billed as "presenting Persis Khambatta"), Stephen Collins ("as Lt. Willard Decker"; "as Decker"), and Grace Lee Whitney. Note that the Star Trek TV show went off the air in 1969, with a cult following, but without a lot of general success. But there was enough interest built up over the following years that this movie was made in 1979. Three years later, Nicholas Meyer wrote and directed a sequel, "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", which was a giant critical and commercial success, and led to all the many sequels and spin-offs in the years since! Note that this poster was stamped "FOREIGN" which means it was printed for use outside the United States (there would also have been posters stamped "DOMESTIC" for use within the United States). Often, the "FOREIGN" posters would have a different (sometimes racier) image than that for the one used in the United States. Condition: very good to fine. As the poster was only printed in eight sections, there are far fewer foldlines and crossfolds than in older 24-sheets. There are creases and small tears along some foldlines and a few areas of darkening along the backs of the foldlines that were exposed when it was folded up.
