A Circa Late 1940s (from the first Belgian release) Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 11 1/2" x 15 3/4" [29 x 40 cm]) (Learn More) The City That Stopped Hitler - Heroic Stalingrad (released in other English-speaking countries as "Stalingrad"), the 1943 Leonid Varlamov World War II (WWII) military documentary ("162 days of breathless drama!"; "The story of 162 days that shook the world!"; "It's REAL - It's NEW - It's TRUE! See the most vivid close-up fighting thrills ever screened! Nazi killers shot down before your very eyes! 'Katusha'! Amazing secret weapon revealed at last!"; "The story of the city with its back to the Volga!"; "From Motion Pictures Taken by Soviet Cameramen on the Don and Stalingrad Fronts in the U.S.S.R.") with narration "spoken by Brian Donlevy". Note that this movie was made during World War II, when Russia was our ally, and Hollywood was doing its part to help promote positive Russian/U.S. relations, but just a few years later, the HUAAC used movies like this as examples of how Hollywood was controlled by "Communists"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was printed on the back of an old map! During World War II in Belgium, there was a massive paper shortage, and so they used whatever paper they could find to print the movie posters, and in many cases they used old maps, and printed the movie posters on the reverse. They often also made the posters smaller, so they could get more posters printed. This practice continued for a couple of years after World War II. Since these posters are original, and since all such posters are printed on the back of maps or other posters, this is not considered a defect by almost all collectors. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. There is some writing in the upper right blank corner. The printing on the back of the poster slightly bleeds through to the front but it is not very distracting and the poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
