A Folded English Advertising Poster (measures 19 3/4" x 29 3/4" [50 x 76 cm]) (Learn More)

Picturegoer ("The Screen's Most Popular Magazine") was an English magazine from 1911 to 1960. Its primary focus was contemporary films and the performers who appeared in them. The magazine was started in 1911 under the name The Pictures and in 1914 it merged with Picturegoer. Following the merge it was renamed Pictures and The Picturegoer, which continued until 1920 when it was renamed as Pictures for the Picturegoer and then finally settled on Picturegoer in January of 1921. It was initially published monthly through May 1931, before switching to weekly publication as Picturegoer Weekly.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this English magazine would create posters to post at news stands and other places where the magazine was sold, promoting some aspect of one or more current issues. In this case, they were highlighting an article titled "Bette Davis' Life Story". Our consignor purchased a group of these many years ago, and other than those, we have only ever auctioned a couple of others from any other consignor! Our consignor has consigned the last nine of these posters that he had to us, and they are in nine different auctions. This is a great opportunity to purchase one or more of these ultra rare posters! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: very good. The poster has two extra horizontal folds, with minor fold and border wear.
