An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Sphinx, the 1933 Phil Rosen mistaken identity romantic love triangle murder mystery crime thriller (about a rich deaf mute man who is always around when people are found murdered, and some people claim to have heard him talking, but the police test his hearing by firing guns and making loud sounds near him, and he always passes; at the end of the movie it is revealed that he CAN talk and hear, but that he has a deaf mute twin brother, who takes his place when it is necessary!) starring Lionel Atwill (as twin brothers), Sheila Terry, Theodore Newton ("Courtesy of Warner Bros."), Paul Hurst, Lucien Prival, and Robert Ellis. Note that the title of this movie refers to the old expression about someone being "as unmoving as a Sphinx", which is how the deaf mute man in the movie reacts to loud sounds. But the designer of the lobby cards either didn't know this or didn't care, and they put artwork of the actual Sphinx and the pyramids in the border of the lobby cards!

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this scene card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. The card has scuffing in the silhouette area and smudges around the edges and in the light green background. The card had a 1" diagonal tear near the middle of the left border, with a triangular stain in that area that extended into the image background, and someone restored that area without backing the card. It also had a few very tiny border defects, and someone put a tiny piece of tape on the back of the bottom left corner.
