An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 15 1/2" x 24") (Learn More) the 1950s Belgian stock poster for use by theaters showing cowboy western movies starring Roy Rogers. Theaters would order these posters which had a large blank area. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, and sometimes they were sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, so the theater could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Sometimes stock posters are found with blank snipe areas. Most collectors consider them more valuable with a printed snipe attached, or with an overprinted snipe area. This stock poster was used for a showing of "Song of Nevada", and that title was written in the yellow area at bottom. The poster had some tiny dots of surface paper loss scattered in a few parts of the image. It also had tiny paper loss at the crossfold and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some foldlines. There were pinholes, creases, tears, stains, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above (and any restorer could easily touch them up without re-backing the poster).
