An Undated (probably 1970s) Re-Release Theatrical Folded Indian Movie Poster (measures 29 3/4" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) City Lights, the classic 1931 Charlie Chaplin silent romantic comedy melodrama (written and directed by Charles Chaplin; Chaplin is a Tramp who befriends a blind flower seller, and he loves her, but is afraid she can't return his love; the movie includes a memorable boxing scene, and a wonderful final scene where the girl is cured of her blindness) starring Charles Chaplin, Virginia Cherrill, Florence Lee, Harry Myers, Al Ernest Garcia, and Hank Mann. Note that Charlie Chaplin stood alone against the coming of sound to movies, and he made this movie as a silent movie, although it had a soundtrack which included the song "Smile", which Chaplin himself wrote. He would release another silent movie, "Modern Times", in 1936, and then finally agreed to make sound pictures! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned two examples of this poster before!
