Auction History Result #604 JOHNNY FRENCHMAN 8 English 11x14s'45 Roc Date Sold 5/14/2002Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical English 11" x 14" Movie Stills (Learn More) Johnny Frenchman, the 1945 (released in the U.S. in 1946) Charles Frend English World War II (WWII) fishing village romantic melodrama (about a conflict between English and French fisherman, when the French came over to England during World War II to escape the Nazis, but the English fishermen do not want or accept the newcomers) starring Patricia Roc, Francoise Rosay, Tom Walls, and "the Canadian Discovery" Paul Dupuis NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: This set of 11x14s (and the other similar sets being sold separately on eBay this week) came from a Canadian movie theater that showed a lot of English films. These sets were what the theater was sent along with the films. The stills have a "second generation" look to them, as though they were copies made from other stills (but they are extremely good quality). We do know that these stills were used in the theater right when the films came out, so they are from the original release of the film, but perhaps the distributor created second generation materials for the Canadian market. Please do not bid on this set of stills unless you can accept them as they are. Condition: good to very good. Each still has creasing. Each still has a tack hole in the center of the still. Most of the stills have a tack hole either in the upper center and bottom center edge of the image background. The still of the man in the rain coat and three heads at left has a 1 1/2" scratch in the man's mouth and neck. The still of the man and woman in the bed has a 2 1/2" triangular piece out of the center of the still with two 1" tears. The still of several men jumping boats has a thin 5" scratch in the center of the image. Learn More about condition grades
