Original Comic Strip Art (consists of 2 panels, each measures 14 3/4" x 22 1/4", or 22 1/4" x 29 1/2" when combined) (Learn More) Archie Comics is a comic book publisher which was founded in 1939, and is known for its many series (and a spin-off newspaper strip) featuring the teenagers Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Reggie Mantle and Jughead Jones. The characters were created by publisher/editor John L. Goldwater, written by Vic Bloom and drawn by Bob Montana. Artist: Bob Montana Important Added Info: Note that this is the original art from the 6/29/1947 Sunday newspaper comic strip of Archie, and it is a very humorous one, with Archie going horseback riding with Veronica and he breaks a wild horse by tying himself to it, so that it can't throw him! We are also currently auctioning two other examples of Archie original art, in separate auctions. However, those other two examples, which are from the mid 1950s, measure half the size of this one! Apparently, Montana originally drew his strips much larger, and it certainly is much more impressive at twice the size! Note that this art must be sent in a very large flat package that measures approximately 17" x 24", so bear this added expense in mind before bidding. Condition: very good.
