eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2z282 BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR 24x36 1sh '72 Mitchell Bros' classic, c/u sexy naked Marilyn Chambers! Date Sold 12/8/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 24" x 36" [61 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Behind the Green Door (released in Japan as "Green Door"), the 1972 Artie Mitchell & Jim Mitchell (billed as "The Mitchell Brothers") sexploitation movie ("The all-American girl") starring Marilyn Chambers, George S. MacDonald, Johnny Keyes, Lisa Grant, Yank Levine, and Ben Davidson (a pro football player who has an amusing non-sex cameo as an intimidating bouncer, and the posters bill him as "Special Guest Appearance by a famous all-star football professional [you'll recognize him]"). Note that Marilyn Chambers had appeared in Wes Craven's "Together" the year before, and the Mitchell Brothers offered her a non-sex role in this movie, but then they talked her into taking the lead role, paying her what was at the time the highest salary a performer in such a movie ever received. Even though she is the "lead" of the movie, her character says not a single word of dialog! Soon after this movie was released, it was revealed that star Marilyn Chambers had formerly been an "Ivory" soap model, which created quite a media sensation, and made the movie one of the most successful sexploitation movies of all time! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 24" x 36" (to the best of our knowledge, this is absolutely the only original one-sheet created for this classic movie, and that there was no 27" x 41" version of this one-sheet created). Note that all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I of eMoviePoster.com's December Major Auction were consigned to us by legendary French dealer/collector Dominique Besson. Dominique Besson started collecting movie posters in 1981, and became a dealer in French and European posters in 1994, and has remained as a top dealer ever since! But in addition, 30 years ago, Dominique began collecting U.S. one-sheets, first those with Saul Bass art, and then adding Alfred Hitchcock posters, then Humphrey Bogart, and he finally ended up collecting in an amazing total of 47 different categories, purchasing the posters from all over the world! Now the time has come to sell this wonderful collection, and Dominique has chosen eMoviePoster.com to do so, through our auctions! As noted above, all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I come from this more remarkable collection (the 28 that do not were consigned to us by other collectors, and are clearly marked). This is not all of the Dominique Besson collection we are auctioning. In addition, there are approximately 200 more folded one-sheets that will be in Part IV of this special auction (ones from the 1970s to present), and there are approximately 100 unfolded one-sheets that will be in Part III (including many great ones). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase folded one-sheets (all of which have had no professional restoration) from one of the greatest one-sheet collections assembled! Note that this one-sheet is from the category that Dominique Besson collected on that he labeled "Exploitation". Condition: good to very good. There is marker writing on the back that slightly bleeds through to the front at upper left in Chamber's hair but it is not very noticeable or distracting. There is some separation in the edge of the lower vertical foldline that has been repaired with tape from the back. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well from a reasonable distance! Learn More about condition grades
