An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More)

Sorrell and Son, the 1927 Herbert Brenon (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English father-son family relationship silent melodrama ("A great book now a greater picture"; based on the novel "by Warwick Deeping"; a supremely depressing story of a World War I hero who returns to find his wife is having an affair, and she runs off, leaving him with their young son, and the only job he can get is as a hotel porter; he raises his son well, and the son becomes a surgeon, and his father gets an incurable disease, and because he can't bear to watch his father suffer, the son performs a "mercy killing" on his father) starring H.B. Warner (in the title role; "As Sorrell... A failure in life but a success as a father"), Anna Q. Nilsson ("As Dora Sorrell"), Alice Joyce ("As Fanny Garland"), Nils Asther ("As Kit Sorrell"), Carmel Myers ("As Florence Palfrey"), Norman Trevor ("As Thomas Roland"), Louis Wolheim ("As Sergeant Buck"), Mickey McBan (in the title role; "As the boy"), and Mary Nolan ("As Molly Roland"). Note that the "mercy killing" aspect of this movie was very controversial when the movie first came out, and over 80 years later, the exact same movie plot would be just as controversial! Also note that seven years after this movie was made, it was re-made as a "talkie", with H.B. Warner again playing the lead role.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: good to very good. There is a nail hole in the top and bottom center of the card and some tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the borders. There are water stains on the back of the card that do not affect the front. Other than a nail hole in the middle right of the card (in the blue background), the image area is in pretty nice condition.
