An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Son of Kong, the 1933 Ernest B. Schoedsack fantasy horror action adventure thriller sequel ("Laughs! Thrills! Pathos!"; "New Thrills! New Adventure! New Romance!"; note that King Kong was SO successful that RKO rushed out a very rare same-year sequel, but they made Kong's son a smaller size than his father ["only" 12 feet tall], perhaps because that made filming easier) starring Robert Armstrong (reprising his role as Carl Denham from the previous King Kong), Helen Mack, Frank Reicher, John Marston, Victor Wong, and Edward Brady NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that both styles of one-sheets were consigned to us in 2005, and we auctioned the B style of this poster on December 17, 2005, and it sold for $60,100 (it included a large image of the Son of Kong). We auctioned a style A of this poster on February 7, 2006, and it sold for $17,211. Now we have been consigned this second style A one-sheet, which is NOT the same poster as the style A we auctioned in 2006. Of course, this style A does not show the "Son of Kong", but no one can deny that this poster is artistically quite appealing, and it is quite rare (it is only the second time we have auctioned it) and it is the closest and best second alternative to owning that $60,000 style B one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had a large circular Dutch stamp at top center extending from the right of the "O" of "SON" to the left of the "N". It had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a few tiny bits of paper loss on the folds. It had pinholes and tack holes around the edges, with a few small tears and tiny paper loss in the upper left blank border. It had a few tiny pinholes scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. A really talented restorer expertly retouched the censor stamp described above, and the poster displays quite well!
