R44 Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More)

Arrowsmith, the 1931 John Ford medical doctor romantic fictional biography melodrama ("The great American novel now becomes the great American motion picture!"; "He devoted his life to service... and his heart to the love of one woman"; "From the Nobel Prize novel by Sinclair Lewis"; about the life of a dedicated doctor, from his earliest days in medical school through a long distinguished career; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Ronald Colman (in the title role as Dr. Martin Arrowsmith), Helen Hayes, Richard Bennett, Myrna Loy, and A.E. Anson. Note that there is something very ironic about the crediting United Artists used for the source novel. When Lewis wrote Arrowsmith, he was voted the Pulitzer Prize for it, but he refused it. In 1930, he was given the Nobel Prize for Literature, not specifically for any one novel, and he accepted it. Samuel Goldwyn, the producer of the movie, wanted to advertise that this was an award-winning novel, so he combined the two above facts to get the tagline "from the Nobel Prize novel", which is not strictly true!
