A 1976 Re-Release Theatrical Folded Style B East German Movie Poster (measures 22 3/4" x 32" [58 x 81 cm]) (Learn More) Chapaev (released in English-speaking countries as "Chapayev"), the 1934 Sergei & Georgi Vasilyev Russian biographical military war melodrama (set during the Russian Revolution, a biography of the real life Commander of the 25th Division of the Red Army, Vasili Ivanovich Chapayev, who was a peasant who joined the Red Army and rose to lead an army of peasants like himself, but due to his military brilliance, he never lost a battle against the White Army) starring Boris Babochkin (in the title role as Chapayev), Leonid Kmit, Varvara Myasnikova, Boris Blinov, and Illarion Pevtsov. This movie received the first prize "Silver Cup" of the Moscow International Film Festival in 1935, and the "Grand Prix" at the World Expo in Paris in 1937!
