He produced four Charles Dickens adaptations in Denmark for release in Scandinavian countries. He lost much of his fortune on those four movies, and turned to screenwriting. If the unusual first name "Wid" seems familiar, it is because Mr. Gunning started the most famous trade magazine in early Hollywood, "Wid's Daily" (the title was changed to "The Film Daily" after he sold it)! It was the number one source of information about the film industry (and later television) until it ceased publication in 1970. It was a must buy for everyone in the film industry. In addition to the daily edition, there was also a larger weekly version. Each issue had lots of statistics about current productions, and also ads as well. Wid passed away in 1963 at the age of 77. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
