An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Winterset, the 1936 Alfred Santell New York City romantic crime melodrama ("The best American play of the past seasons shatters all picture precedents with its tremendous dramatic impact.... Its suspense.... Its swift romance and breathless climax.... The suspense achievement in screen entertainment."; "A new and shocking world is revealed in this astounding story of fear, love and revenge.... Introducing to the screen the most talked-about stage stars of many seasons.... Burgess Meredith and Margo in the roles they created."; "Burgess Meredith and Margo in their original stage production roles"; "Maxwell Anderson's famous play"; about an Italian immigrant who is tried, convicted, and executed for a payroll robbery, and years later, his son seeks to prove his innocence and find evidence to convict the real robber) starring Burgess Meredith, Margo, Eduardo Ciannelli, John Carradine, and Edward Ellis NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of director Alfred Santell on the set of this movie, and sitting by him is Gloria Gottschalk, "said to be one of RKO Radio's prettiest script girls"! Also note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. Normally, this was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby. However, this snipe was glued on so that the written portion is only readable when the snipe is folded over the bottom of the still, which slightly defeats this purpose (although one can see the top of the still and the snipe at the same time, which could not be done if the snipe was glued on the back). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! The still measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/4", but it has not been trimmed. Note that there is a stamp on the back of the still (from the poster studio that distributed it). Condition: good to very good. There are creases and a surface tear in the top left corner. There are faint emulsion scuffs scattered throughout the still, but they are truthfully not very noticeable except when the still is tilted to the light. Learn More about condition grades
