Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus, the 1999 circus poster ("The Greatest Show on Earth"; "Get ready. Get set. Get wowed!"; "The human comet"; "The tightrope of terror"; "The globe of death") featuring multiple scenes of circus acts. The modern version of the circus started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P. T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. World's Greatest Shows. With weakening attendance and high operating costs, the circus closed on May 21st, 2017 after 146 years.
