An Original 1955 (from the first release of this movie in Denmark) Vintage Theatrical Folded Danish Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 33 1/2" [62 x 85 cm]) (Learn More) John Huston's Moulin Rouge (released in the U.S. in 1953), the 1952 John Huston (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English Paris France fictional-biography musical melodrama ("Wild, Wicked, Wonderful Paris ...All her Loves, Ladies and Lusty Legends!"; "...The most startling and daring love story ever told!"; "All its sin... its splendor... its lusty love for life!"; "From the novel 'Moulin Rouge' by Pierre La Mure"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Jose Ferrer (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as the famous diminutive artist Toulouse-Lautrec; Ferrer played the entire movie on his knees, with his legs strapped to the back of his thighs), Zsa Zsa Gabor, Suzanne Flon, Colette Marchand (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; billed as "introducing Colette Marchand"), and Claude Nollier NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Maggi Baaring Important Added Info: Note that there are two different first release Danish posters for this movie. One of them has "Munch" art, which is a re-drawn version of the artwork that was used on the original English and French posters. The other poster (the one offered here in this auction) has completely different art by Maggi Baaring, who was a Danish artist and painter (she did books, magazines, posters, and even erotica!). Both are from the first Danish release. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There is a censor stamp in the grey background at upper left. There are a few tiny indentations at upper and lower left and right (right and left of the top and bottom crossfolds), but they are not very noticeable or distracting. There is tiny separation at the crossfolds and there are minor creases throughout the poster (mostly along the foldlines). The poster is otherwise in nice condition and it displays pretty well, but if one chose to have it linenbacked it would look wonderful! Learn More about condition grades
