An Original Vintage Movie Campaign Book Page (measures 9 3/4" x 12") (Learn More) a campaign book page advertising Typhoon, the 1940 Louis King South Seas tropical island storm adventure thriller ("Based on a Story by Steve Fisher") starring Dorothy Lamour, Robert Preston, Lynne Overman, J. Carrol Naish, and Chief Thundercloud (born Victor Daniels, he was a real life Native American Indian, but only an honorary "chief", best remembered for being the original Tonto in the "Lone Ranger" serials) AND Gulliver's Travels, the 1939 Dave Fleischer full-length feature family fantasy adventure animated animation cartoon ("Based on Jonathan Swift's Immortal Tale"; produced by Max Fleischer) featuring the voices of Jessica Dragonete, Lanny Ross, Pinto Colvig, Jack Mercer, and Sam Parker. Note that this movie by the Fleischer brothers (who had had multiple reel cartoons prior to Walt Disney's first feature, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs") was intended to be the beginning of a long series of Fleischer features, but this did not have the success of Disney's films, so that did not happen! Note that Max Fleischer (along with his brother Dave) were legends and pioneers in animated films. They made the very first sound cartoon in 1924, beating Walt Disney by several years. They had great success with their Out of the Inkwell cartoons, Popeye, Betty Boop, and much more, including the Superman cartoons, widely regarded as the finest cartoons ever made! But after Walt Disney made Snow White, the Fleischers made Gulliver's Travels, which did not do well at the box office, and their next major project, Mr. Bug Goes To Town, had the bad fortune to be released two days before the attack on Pearl Harbor, and it also did poorly. At this same time, the Fleischer brothers had a major falling out, and in 1942, they split completely. After they made the last of their Superman cartoons in 1942, Paramount ceased control of their studio. Each of the brothers made a few more cartoons, but their careers were essentially over. AND Dr. Cyclops, the 1940 Ernest B. Schoedsack science fiction (sci-fi) mad-scientist-shrinks-people-to-tiny-size fantasy adventure thriller ("The thrill of the year!"; "Original Screen Play by Tom Kilpatrick") starring Albert Dekker (in the title role as Dr. Alexander Thorkel), Thomas Coley, Janice Logan, Charles Halton, Victor Kilian, and Frank Yaconelli NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that from the 1920s on, studios would create elaborate studio yearbooks (also known as campaign books). They were made once each year, and they were often in full color, and often used the finest artists of the day to create many elaborate ads for their upcoming releases. The page offered here was removed from a studio yearbook, and can be framed and displayed (but almost all campaign book pages have different images on each side, so one must choose which side to display if it is framed!). Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
