It featured extremely early art by Robert Crumb, S. Clay Wilson, and many of the other early legendary underground comic artists. Zap was originally part of the youth counterculture of the late 1960s and became the model for the "comix" movement that followed after its release. We know that because it was printed with a 50 cent cover price and the story "Head First" is aligned correctly. It was sold after the price was raised to 75 cents with the third printing, and a 75 cent price sticker was put over the printed 50 cent price, but it is the second printing with a price sticker added.
