An Original Vintage Autographed 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" [9 x 14 cm] Arcade Card, with facsimile signature AND actual autograph (see our image) (Learn More) Larry Doby was a black African American professional baseball player from the 1940s to 1959. He was the second player to break Major League Baseball's color barrier, and the first in the American League (but as is always the case, it was the first player, Jackie Robinson, who got all the publicity!). Doby was center fielder for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, and the Detroit Tigers throughout his career. He was a 7 time All-Star, and a 1948 World Series Champion with the Cleveland Indians. Doby later served as the second black manager in the majors with the Chicago White Sox, and he also served as the director of communications with the NBA's New Jersey Nets. He was selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998, and his image was put on a U.S. postage stamp in 2012! Doby passed away in 2003 at the age of 79. Important Added Info: Note that this arcade card (which was printed with a facsimile signature) has also been personally autographed (signed) by Larry Doby (our consignor attended a New Jersey Nets basketball game where Mr. Doby was working in community relations, and Mr. Doby signed this card for him)! Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
