An Original 1921 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French Large Movie Poster (31x47; measures 30 1/4" x 46 1/4" [77 x 117 cm]) (Learn More) Salome, the 1918 J. Gordon Edwards silent Biblical historical romantic betrayal melodrama ("The seductress who sowed sin in ancient Galilee, whose tempestuous blood has traced a scarlet thread through the centuries"; "A Theda Bara Super Production"; based on the Biblical story of Salome, King Herod, and John the Baptist) starring Theda Bara ("Siren supreme of the screen"; in the title role as Salome), G. Raymond Nye (as King Herod), Alan Roscoe (as John the Baptist), Herbert Hayes, and Bertram Grassby. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Emilio Vila Important Added Info: Note that first release movie paper from this Theda Bara Biblical movie is extremely rare. In 2001, a man discovered two examples of the U.S. one-sheet, and we auctioned those in 2001 and 2002. But otherwise, we have never seen even a single U.S. poster of any sort, and this French poster (with a fantastic image of Theda Bara) is the only non-U.S. poster we have ever seen! Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had a few tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on very small parts of the foldlines. It had some small tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
