Photoplay Magazine was first published in 1909, and by 1916 it had become the leading movie magazine, and this book was published by the publishers of the magazine. What is really cool is that each star gets a full-page photo and a biography underneath. It really is a "who's who" of the greatest stars of Hollywood, from Rene Adoree to Loretta Young, and everyone in between, including Louise Brooks, Clara Bow, Lon Chaney Sr., Gary Cooper, Greta Garbo, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and on, and on, and on! We have only pictured a few of the interior pages, but we wish we could picture them all! Note that we have seen two different versions of this book, this one from 1930, and another one from 1924, and of course, while they have some of the same stars, there are also a number of different ones, reflecting the fleeting nature of stardom!
