War of the Worlds, the 2005 Steven Spielberg science fiction (sci-fi) horror action thriller ("They're Already Here."; "Based on the novel by H.G. Wells") starring Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Miranda Otto, Tim Robbins, and Justin Chatwin. Note that this movie is a re-make of the classic 1953 movie starring Gene Barry and Ann Robinson, who both had cameos in the new film!
