An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm]) (Learn More) The Man in Blue, the 1925 Edward Laemmle silent romantic love triangle immigrant police melodrama ("From the Red Book Magazine Story by Gerald Beaumont"; about Italian immigrants, and a love triangle between a cop, a politician, and a beautiful young woman; the woman thinks the cop is married, so she takes off with the politician, but fortunately, everything works out in the end) starring Herbert Rawlinson (in the title role as Conlin), Madge Bellamy, Nick De Ruiz, George Beranger, and Cesare Gravina. Note that director Edward Laemmle has been largely forgotten by film history, but he has a VERY interesting biography! He is the nephew of Carl Laemmle, who persuaded him to leave his electrical engineering career in 1915 and join him at his recently opened Universal Studios. He started as an assistant director, mainly under John Ford. In 1917, he went to New Guinea to produce a movie about the natives there, and was shipwrecked, and spent two years among the Kia Kia cannibals! This adventure was re-created in the movie "Shipwrecked Among Cannibals", which became the first million dollar movie for Universal Studios. Edward Laemmle went on to direct roughly 50 movies, and had many famous assistants, including William Wyler! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned two examples of this title card, and one of those examples has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned! Also note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm]. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair. All the borders were neatly trimmed off and there is staining down the right of the card, in most of the image of the man, slightly extending into the woman. The card was later glued to an 11" x 14" piece of stiff board. Please look at our super-sized images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this card before placing a bid.
