Date Sold 3/18/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1957 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]) (Learn More) La Lumiere d'en Face (released in the U.S. in 1957 as "The Light Across the Street" and "Female and the Flesh"), the 1955 Georges Lacombe French bad girl romantic love triangle melodrama ("Temptations of the World! ...with a climax every woman will remember as a new emotional experience!"; "The sensational Brigitte Bardot in 'The Light Across the Street'"; "More woman than any man can handle!"; the plot of the movie owes a lot to "The Postman Always Rings Twice"; Bardot and her husband run a highway restaurant; her husband is recovering from an accident and neglects her, and when a new young handsome man starts to work at the gas station across the street, events progress as you would expect they would) starring Raymond Pellegrin, Roger Pigaut, Brigitte Bardot, Claude Romain, Antonin Berval (billed as "Berval"), Daniel Ceccaldi, Lucien Hubert, Guy Pierauld, and Jean Debucourt. Note that this movie had an extremely limited U.S. subtitled release from UMPO in 1957 as "The Light Across the Street" and " Female and the Flesh" (perhaps solely in major cities at "arthouse" theaters). It was re-released in the U.S. in 1960 under the title of "Female and the Flesh" with English dubbing, and with all new posters, and these posters are often mistakenly sold as being from the first U.S. release. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that prior to being consigned this Italian two-panel, which we have never auctioned before, the only other Italian poster we were consigned was a single photobusta! Also note that this Italian two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Condition: fair. The title was overprinted with a new title (it was almost certainly done by the distributor).
