An Original Vintage Theatrical Advertising Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Carl W. Soderstrom, the 1920s political glass slide advertisement ("Republican candidate for State Representative"; "Honest, Efficient, Qualified"; "Subject to the decision of Primary, April 11th"; "Your support will be thoroughly appreciated") promoting Soderstrom for Illinois State Representative and featuring an image of Carl. Note that Soderstrom was one of Illinois' foremost labor leaders. He was the former President of the Illinois State Federation of Labor (ISFL) from 1930 to 1958 and former President of the AFL-CIO from 1958 to 1970. He fought for child labor laws, when still a child himself and later, as State Representative (for which he campaigned with this glass slide!), he passed original laws to help the impoverished working middle class. He died in 1970. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: fair. The blank pane of glass is missing. The pane of glass that remains has a long semi-circular crack down the right. Learn More about condition grades
