An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 28 1/2" x 40" [72 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Wanted! For Murder, the 1944 U.S. World War II (WWII) Home Front poster ("Her careless talk costs lives") advertising the implications of allowing information into the wrong hands. The poster is designed like an old fashioned western "wanted" poster, and it might seem "heavy handed" to today's world, but America during World War II was very conscious of not accidentally giving information to the enemy. Artist: Victor Keppler Important Added Info: Note that this poster (like most World War II posters) were widely distributed through the mail (to military bases and other locations). They were machine folded, and a very few of them have printing on the back of the area that was on the outside when it was fully folded, giving instructions on how the poster was to be used and displayed (see our image of the back of the poster). We don't know if this printing would be on all examples of this poster, or only some of them. Note that this is one of a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters (around 75 war posters, plus 25 others, including political ones) mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945, with 15 from after that date! These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these more than 100 posters! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster is fragile and has slightly darkened around the edges and on parts of the folds. It has some small tears in the borders, with separation at the ends of some folds. However, after a relatively simple linenbacking, the poster will look fantastic! Learn More about condition grades
