Just ask the people he does business with."; "This is Philip Marlowe's whiskey. It makes courage!"; "This is Philip Marlowe's gun. It makes noise!"; "This is Philip Marlowe's friend. It makes love!"; "Philip Marlowe is a private eye. For fifty bucks you can buy his brain, his fists, and his .44 Magnum Special. If you want blood, he'll give you that, too!"; with a screenplay by Stirling Silliphant; "based on the Novel by Raymond Chandler") starring James Garner (in the title role as Philip Marlowe), Gayle Hunnicutt, Carroll O'Connor, Rita Moreno, William Daniels, Jackie Coogan, Sharon Farrell, Bruce Lee (in a small, but memorable early role!), and Nicole Jaffe NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by director Paul Bogart! Also note that although this still was "printed in Great Britain", it has full NSS information. It may have been intended to be used in both countries, but at least some movies have both these NSS stills and also English FOH stills with the same images, and we have never heard from a collector who saw the NSS stills in UK theaters. A knowledgeable collector suggests that these NSS stills were used solely in the U.S., and that perhaps studios printed them in Great Britain as a way to "use up" UK profits and avoid having to pay taxes. If anyone knows more about this still, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia collector and dealer from the 1970s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items. Both we and our consignor feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity (unless noted above). Condition: very good to fine.
