Kahn cowboy western ("All-Negro Western") starring Herb Jeffries (billed as "Herbert Jeffrey"), Spencer Williams, Clarence Brooks, F.E. Miller (Flourney E. Miller), Artie Young, Lucius Brooks, Lee Calmes, Earl J. Morris, The Four Tones and an "All-Colored Cast". Note that Flourney Miller was a major figure in black Broadway musical history, performing and writing with his partner Aubrey Lyles. After Lyles passed away in 1933, Miller appeared in a number of all-black movies in the 1930s and 1940s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by Herb Jeffries! Our consignor purchased this item (and other posters autographed by Herb Jeffries) from a married couple of poster dealers who traveled to western shows for years, and they were friends of Mr. Jeffries, and he signed several items for them. Our consignor has no certificate of authenticity, but he and we believe the signature to be surely authentic. Also note that this poster measures 28 1/2" x 41" [72 x 104 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tiny areas of paper loss near the center of each horizontal fold and some clear tape, pinholes, and tiny paper loss around the edges of the poster. There were a few pinholes scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone simply backed the poster "as is" without performing restoration, and then they cut a square piece from each corner (which cut into the blank corners of the poster!), and they then folded back each border (both the excess linen and a small portion of the edge of the poster), and they then attached those folded back areas to a stretcher! This caused creases in each border and also the paper loss in each corner (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
