A Vintage Softcover Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 150 pages) (Learn More) Julie Andrews is an English actress from the 1940s to the present. Some of her movies include: The Sound Of Music (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mary Poppins (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Victor/Victoria (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Enchanted, Torn Curtain, and The Princess Diaries. She was the first Eliza Doolittle in Broadway's "My Fair Lady", but she was passed over for the movie because she was unknown at the time, even though she could sing wonderfully, and her replacement, Audrey Hepburn, was not allowed to sing in the movie and had to be dubbed! As of 2024, she is still alive at the age of 89. Sadly, her singing voice was damaged in 1997 after a botched throat surgery to remove nodules. Important Added Info: The Society of Singers was an American nonprofit charitable organization, the only one devoted exclusively to helping professional singers. It was founded in 1984, and from 1989 to 2014, the SOS's premier fundraising event was the ceremony awarding the Ella Award (named after Ella Fitzgerald). The Ella Award was given to singers "...for their contribution to the world of music along with their dedicated efforts to benefit the community and worldwide causes". Note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and three interior 2-page spreads. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
