An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/4" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff, the 1949 Charles Barton screwball horror comedy ("More Ghoulish glee... Than when they met Frankenstein!"; "Help") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Boris Karloff, Lenore Aubert, and Gar Moore. Note that this movie was originally titled "Easy Does It", and it was intended to be a Bob Hope comedy! However, the movie "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" had just come out and was a huge hit, and Universal reworked the script for Abbott & Costello, and changed the title to "Abbott and Costello Meet the Killers"! In that script, the lead villain was a FEMALE character named "Madame Switzer"! Five days before shooting began, Boris Karloff was hired, and the character became a swami, and the title of the movie was changed yet again, to include Boris Karloff's name! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was used by The Orpheum theater in Sydney, Australia that originally opened in 1935! The theater featured art deco design, two levels and seating for 1735. The theater was sold in the 1970s and converted into a shopping center. Luckily, in 1986, it was lovingly restored and re-opened as the Hayden Orpheum! Condition: fair to good. There is a theater snipe glued across the top of the poster that adds approximately 3 1/4" to the overall height of the poster (the poster was not trimmed and the snipe could surely be removed by a professional restorer, or talented amateur, if one chose to do so). There is a 6" tear and small area of paper loss at lower left in the credits area in the top of the "B" in "BORIS" extending into the "ET" in "MEET" in the title that has been repaired with paper and tape from the front and back. There are remnants of a snipe across the top of the poster (mostly in the area of the Orpheum snipe). There are several creases throughout the poster (some from it being oddly folded) and there is some tattering around the edges. The poster is otherwise in generally nice condition and its colors are still vibrant and if one chose to have it restored it would look wonderful! Learn More about condition grades
