Date Sold 9/6/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 1962) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (measures approximately 13" x 30") (Learn More) Dad and Dave Come to Town (released in the U.S. in 1943 as "Farmer Goes to Town"), the 1938 Ken G. Hall Australian Bush-farmers-come-to-the-big-city family relationship slapstick comedy sequel ("Cripes! What this country needs is a darn good laugh!") starring Bert Bailey (in the title role as Dad Rudd), Fred MacDonald (in the title role as Dave Rudd), Shirley Ann Richards, Billy Rayes, and Peter Finch (in his first movie role!). Note that this is the third in a series of broad slapstick comedies made in the 1930s by the same team, and starring the same actors in the lead roles. It was not released until 1943 in the U.S. by Astor Pictures, and it was re-edited before release (likely because the Australian accents and the Australian humor did not translate as well to U.S. audiences). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this Australian movie! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
