An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Man from Utah, the 1934 Robert N. Bradbury cowboy western ("Action on the Range and in the Rodeo") starring John Wayne, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Polly Ann Young (sister of Loretta Young, to whom she bore a striking resemblance!), Anita Campillo (billed as "Anita Compillo"), Edward Peil Sr., and Yakima Canutt NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this great early John Wayne one-sheet was consigned to us for Part I of this December Major Auction (to be included with the Dominique Besson collection). It was sent to us via Federal Express, but Federal Express delayed the package for unknown reasons, and it arrived the day after that part of the auction was completed. So we are putting it at the start of Part IV, followed by the rest of the Besson folded one-sheets in this part. Note that this poster is the original one-sheet that Lone Star created for this John Wayne western in 1934. After this movie was released in 1934, it was re-released at some point in the next couple of years by Lone Star, along with the other Lone Star John Wayne westerns (we don't think that re-release is from the late 1930s Monogram re-releases, because Monogram does not appear on that poster). The posters for that re-release had a different image of Wayne sitting on a horse holding his hat, and it may well have been a stock poster, because the image is in the upper part of the poster, and then there is a big "John Wayne in" above an area for the title and credits, and it seems quite likely that maybe posters were overprinted with the various titles and credits. The movie was re-released yet again in the late 1930s (possibly 1939) by Monogram, after they bought the rights to the Lone Star titles, and we have had a lobby card from that re-release, but we have not had the one-sheet from that re-release, so we don't know what that image shows! But the poster offered here is the very rare first release one-sheet from this movie from 1934 (we have only auctioned this poster once before, and that was this very same poster, which has been re-consigned to us, so it is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned). Condition: very good to fine. The poster has very minor wear on the folds. It has a pinhole in each corner and in the center of three borders. Otherwise, the poster is in really nice condition!
