Griffith silent family relationship murder melodrama starring Mae Marsh, Robert Harron, Miriam Cooper, Vera Lewis, and Sam De Grasse. Note that D.W. Griffith followed up his massive 1915 success, "The Birth of a Nation", with the 1916 "Intolerance", which was a multi-section movie showing intolerance through the ages. It was not nearly as successful as "The Birth of a Nation", so to try to reap more financial rewards out of it, Griffith in 1919, re-edited the "modern" portion of this movie (set in the then "present day" of 1916), and expanded it (using discarded footage and also shooting new footage) into this feature film, re-titled "Mother and the Law". He also did the same with the portion of "Intolerance" that was set in Babylon, and it was released as "The Fall of Babylon". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
