An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Riders of the Purple Sage, the 1918 Frank Lloyd silent cowboy western ("William Farnum in Zane Grey's thrilling novel"; "A great American drama of the man who was not afraid"; about a Texas Ranger whose sister and niece are kidnapped, and he spends the entire movie trying to find them and punish the man who kidnapped them; at the climax, he finds the man, kills him, and runs off with his sister and niece to a secret hidden place) starring William Farnum, William Scott, Marc Robbins, Murdock MacQuarrie, Mary Mersch, and Buck Jones (in one of his very first movies, as a "cowboy"). Note that this was considered Zane Grey's greatest novel. It was filmed again in 1925, in 1931 with George O'Brien, and again in 1941 with Robert Montgomery! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. There are creases, smudges, stains, and pinholes around the edges of the poster, but overall it has survived extremely well, especially given that it is not at all fragile or brittle, and it is hard to believe it has survived so well given that it is 87 years old!
